Commonplace book, [ca. 1605-1618].

Poems by a number of Elizabethan poets. The most heavily represented are Sir John Davies (48 poems), Barnabe Rich (29), and John Heywood (20). Among the unidentified poems there are a great many epigrams and epitaphs, love poems, and verses on miscellaneous subjects. The book appears to have been written by three persons over a period roughly from 1605 to 1618. The first hand, a bold Elizabethan cursive script with headings and some marginal notes in a very clear italic style, resembles very closely the autograph of Sir John Harrington.
